The Deputy for Planning and Human Capital Development of Arak Municipality, explaining the dimensions of the project to document the historical records of Arak, stated: From the perspective of planning management, preserving these documents is not merely an archival action, but a rereading of “organizational knowledge” and the lived experience of former managers and employees of the municipality. By extracting, classifying, and documenting these 3 million pages of records, we are in fact compiling the identity card of our organizational identity. This unique treasure includes a wide range of administrative documents, including business licenses, personnel appointment orders, official municipal correspondence, and documentary images. These records provide an accurate and direct picture of how the urban management structure took shape, as well as the economic and social activities and lifestyle of Arak citizens in the modern era. Faraji added: The importance of implementing this project goes beyond the physical archiving of documents. These records help us, with a scientific perspective on the evolution of structures, decisions, and social and economic activities in Arak over nearly six decades, to draw a more precise path for future planning. Our ultimate goal at Arak Municipality is to turn this historical memory into a knowledge asset that can pave the way for academic research, cultural content production, and strengthening authenticity in urban management. In fact, by reviving these records, we will leave a valuable legacy for future generations of the municipality. The Deputy for Planning and Human Capital Development of Arak Municipality also noted: By implementing this project, Arak Municipality is trying to protect Arak’s “urban identity” as part of the city’s intangible assets from the danger of oblivion and dispersion. Cities are not merely a collection of streets, buildings, and physical infrastructure; rather, they are the custodians of the memories, experiences, and efforts of previous generations, which are embedded in the layers of these records. He emphasized: With the aim of preserving collective memory and documenting the process of urban management transformations, the Islamic City Council of Arak has approved the allocation of the necessary budget for compiling and publishing the book “Historical Records of Arak Municipality.” This major project is considered a strategic step toward rereading and preserving the city’s written heritage in the period from 1300 to 1357. According to this resolution, the process of collecting, classifying, documenting, and publishing these records as a lasting work will begin so that today’s and future generations, with a precise understanding of the path taken in urban management, can establish a stronger bond with the authenticity and identity of their city. It is worth noting that, in addition to its protective aspects, this project will provide a foundation for enhancing urban knowledge in research and academic fields, producing rich cultural content, and strengthening urban tourism capacities. Ultimately, compiling the historical records of the municipality is, in fact, the revival of the “city’s identity card” and an investment in transferring Arak’s experience and identity to future generations.
